As soon as we went public as a farm, clients started reaching out asking if we could take in their livestock. There are various reasons for this and everyone has a different situation. However, the number of requests to rescue started to match the number of requests to adopt.
On our previous farm, which was already established with fencing and buildings, we were able to take in everyone easily and keep them indefinitely. Now, starting almost for scratch, it is hard to keep every single animal we get on the farm for extended periods of time. Luckily, the demand to adopt new pets and livestock is just as high as before, and we are always getting requests for animal availability. Our most common scenario is getting calls from sick or elderly who can no longer care for their animals, and they often get adopted by new farmers building their breeding stock or who have lost animals and need companions. Seeing how we have helped so many is our inspiration to do more
We welcome every animal and treat it with love and affection just like another member of our family. We believe this is one of our callings, as we are able to take in animals and bring them back to health and help with their behavior as well through love.
Therefore, I would really like to make our process official and transparent to match our skillset as a farm. This means launching an official Round Hill Ranch Rescue & Rehome program. After being inspired by how many pet shelters run their programs, we would like to institute such a program for farm animals in the area.
There will be more details to come regarding policy and how to adopt. For now, we want to get your feedback on the process.
All animals taken in must have their current state of health disclosed honestly for the sake of the rest of the animals. Animals will be quarantined until having proved a clean bill of health. Larger livestock will be dewormed and given vitamin boosters upon arrival. Once cleared, they will be available for adoption through our website or by calling the farm. Known health records and bill of sale will be provided at adoption. Adoption fee will apply to cover food, medical costs, and any necessary travel.
At this time we will be able to accept most species except for pigs until we have a better structure for them. Always feel free to call and ask questions!
You can feel comfortable and confident calling us to rescue or take in your animal because we will always screen applicants before sending your beloved animal to their new home.
If you do wish to surrender an animal for any reason and want him or her to stay at the farm, we can do our best to honor these requests. In these situations, any donations are greatly appreciated to support the costs of care.
To help build this program, we are in need of more fencing to grow our farm including unwanted dog kennel panels, gates, horse rings, fencing wire, etc. Blankets, feed, bottles, and harnesses are always appreciated greatly as well.
Please email us your thoughts on such a program and let us know if you would like to help!
More details will follow on how to apply for rescue or adoption, but please call at any time if you have an animal in need or are in need of an animal!
As always, thank you to our loyal Round Hill Ranch family 😊
